Aston Township is divided into seven wards. The local governing body consists of seven elected commissioners, one from each ward. It is the goal of the Aston Democratic Committee to work together to recruit and elect Democrats to represent our wards on the Board of Commissioners. Ward 1
Bill Hamilton, a longtime educator and Aston resident since 2016, has been a member of the English faculty at Neumann University since 2006. He holds a dual major in English and Psychology from Lehigh University, complemented by a minor in Theater, a Master’s Degree in English from the University of Akron, and a Doctorate in English from the University of Oregon. At Neumann, he has taught in both the English and Honors programs, advised the Alpha Sigma Chi chapter of the Sigma Tau Delta National English Honor Society, and currently serves as Program Director for the English major.
With more than thirty years of dedication to education, Hamilton is committed to helping students reach their full academic potential and encouraging parents to take a more active role in shaping their children’s educational journey

Dave Jacob
Dave Jacob is a devoted father of two and a proud resident of Aston Ward 2 for the past three years. His passion for service runs deep: as a former Neighborhood Team Leader for President Obama’s 2012 campaign, Dave helped mobilize grassroots efforts and build meaningful connections across communities. For his entire adult life, he’s committed himself to nonprofit work. His dedication, leadership, and heart for service make him a true asset to both his neighborhood and the broader mission of social impact.

Pat Bakey has been a proud Democrat her whole life and serves on the Aston Township Democratic Committee for Ward 3. She and her husband Marty have lived in Aston since 1987, raising three sons who all went through Penn Delco schools and graduated from Sun Valley.Originally from Ridley Twp., Pat graduated from Notre Dame Girls High School and spent 28 years working at the Franklin Mint. Later, she took on a new role as a library assistant at SCI-Chester, and now volunteers with Thresholds, helping folks in prison build decision-making skills for when they return home. She’s also a lector at St. Joseph’s Church and stays active in her faith community.Pat’s values as a Democrat are rooted in fairness, equality, women’s rights, and protecting the environment—causes she continues to support through her work and volunteer efforts.

Colleen Penzone-Parliamentarian
Ward 5
Colleen Penzone serves as the Committee Member for Ward 5 (voting at the Community Center). She is committed to strengthening the community through active leadership, clear communication, and dedicated support for residents. For 18 years, Colleen has called Aston home and has been actively engaged in service, including her role as a Girl Scout Troop Leader. She continues to focus on building connections, addressing community needs, and ensuring Ward 5 has a strong voice in shaping Aston’s future.

Ward 6
Casey Berardi was born and raised in Aston and has been an active member of the Aston Democratic Committee since 2018. He has served as the committee’s Treasurer since 2024. In 2021, he ran for 6th Ward Commissioner to bring fresh ideas and leadership from the next generation. Casey is dedicated to supporting candidates and policies that strengthen democracy, advocate for the working class, and build a more inclusive, transparent, and accessible Aston.

Dave Lewis
David Lewis, a Navy veteran, has been actively involved in local politics since 2000. He has served as a committee member since 2005 and held various elected roles within the polling location over the years. Most recently, he completed a term as the Judge of Election for Aston 6, continuing his long-standing commitment to civic engagement and public service.
Ward 7
Marge LaRue joined the Aston Democratic Committee in 2016, and has served as Chair since July 2023. Originally from New Jersey and a lifelong Democrat, Marge has been a resident of Aston for 39 years, raising three children there. Politically active and socially informed, Marge brings her passion for a more perfect union to local, county, state, and national causes and campaigns, including gun-violence prevention. Her focus as Aston’s Democratic Committee Chair is building community, while increasing the Committee’s numbers, talent, and reach.

Fern Bernstein has been a proud resident of Aston Township for 22 years and a lifelong member of the Democratic Party. A retired maternity nurse, she served families at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital for over three decades with compassion and dedication.
Fern is a lifetime member of the Girl Scouts and has volunteered with Cub Scouts, Penn-Delco school programs, and Temple Shalom Synagogue. For the past six years, she’s been an active member of the Aston Democrats, contributing to canvassing efforts, poll watching, outreach, and membership growth and now as the Co-Chair.
She’s a proud supporter of Aston Pride and Community Day and has worked to make both events inclusive and welcoming for all.

Danielle Deady serves as an At-Large Committee Member and is a resident of Ward 6. Born and raised in Aston, she later returned to the community as an adult to continue building her roots. Danielle is committed to strengthening the Democratic voice in Aston and ensuring that residents have representation that reflects their values and priorities. Danielle seeks to build a more engaged, informed, and inclusive Aston — one where every resident feels heard and has a stake in shaping the town’s direction.

Frank Deady serves as an At-Large Member for the Aston Democrats, bringing over 13 years of residency in Aston and deep roots from growing up in Media. His commitment to the community is driven by a desire to foster greater transparency and accountability within the district and township. Frank believes that open communication and civic engagement are key to building a stronger, more responsive local government.

Originally from Upper Chichester, Doris has called Aston home for over 15 years. Doris retired from Main Line Health in 2021 where she had a career as a Systems Analyst in the Finance Division. Doris enjoys gardening, quilting, genealogy, and caring for a cherished dog Pippa. A lifelong Democrat with a deep-rooted passion for politics, she chose to become actively involved by joining the Aston Democrats following the 2024 election.
