From the Committee Chair

Friends,

“You have a harder job than me.” I won’t forget these words spoken by Gov.  Shapiro when he learned that I chaired the Aston Democratic Committee. That was May 2024. We were celebrating that 14 Democrats had turned out for our monthly meeting. If the governor could see us now! In May 2025, as a panel of students - the next generation of voters – talked about the issues that are important to them, it was to an audience of 40 Aston Democrats.  The students left feeling heard and all left feeling hopeful.

Aston Democrats are over 3,400 strong. Our mission is to elect Democrats here in Aston - where it’s been decades since Dems have served on the Board of Commissioners or the Penn-Delco School Board - and to county, state, and national office. While Delco went blue in 2019 for the first time since the Civil War, Aston Democrats continue to chip away at the lead of our Republican rivals. We persist in thoughtfully and steadily growing our community and building our bench. Watch this space to learn about the candidates we’re supporting for township commissioner and school board. Work with us to elect them and then consider running for office yourself. The change that Aston deserves starts with you.

Aston Dems are your friends and neighbors. We live next door, send our kids to school with your's, and chat with you at the grocery store. We’re a community of like-minded people. We provide a forum where you may share your ideas freely, express your concerns openly, and  your opinions honestly. We’re listening. We’re holding the door open for the unique talent and skill set you bring. C’mon in.

In solidarity,

Marge LaRue
